XO1

Building 4, Trident Place, Mosquito Way, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, AL10 9UL, United Kingdom

Overview

XO1 was created by Index Ventures to develop ichorcumab, an antibody invented at the University of Cambridge that targets the clotting enzyme thrombin. The company's core product is ichorcumab, a potential anticoagulant designed to prevent heart attack and stroke without causing bleeding. XO1 plans to accelerate new drug discovery and complete the preclinical development of ichorcumab, as well as manufacture substantial quantities of the antibody. The company will operate in a virtual model, outsourcing drug development expertise from across the globe rather than maintaining its own offices or labs. XO1 is led by David Grainger, Venture Partner at Index Ventures and interim Chief Executive, and has board members including Kevin Johnson of Index Ventures and Andrew Walsh of Cambridge Enterprise. The company has raised $11m to fund these activities.
