Yape (Your Autonomous Pony Express) is an electric two-wheel autonomous delivery vehicle designed and built in Italy by e‑Novia. The vehicle has two independent motors to optimize consumption, an 80 km range, can rotate on the spot and climb curbs, and reaches up to 6 km/h (20 km/h on cycle lanes). Its cargo rack holds up to 30 kg and a credential system links sender and recipient so only the recipient can open the compartment. Yape recently completed its first delivery in Minami Soma, Fukushima, as tests in Japan began after Japan Post chose Yape as a supplier. The project has also run road tests in Italy and signed commercial partnership agreements in Europe and the U.S. to pilot the service with major food, retail and e‑commerce companies. According to Yape’s official site, the project has raised $6 million from a market‑leader automotive company.
