Yemoja
Building Number 1, Tel-Hai Industrial Park, Kiryat Shmona, HaZafon, 1210000, Israel
Overview
Yemoja operates a newly opened microalgae production plant in the Upper Galilee region of Israel and produces tailored microalgae strains for functional food, nutraceutical and cosmetic uses. Its strains can be customized to deliver specific nutritional compounds and functionalities, and the company highlights a soluble polysaccharide fraction already used in skincare for anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The facility is an indoor, "green" factory designed for high reproducibility on a small land footprint, running on recycled water, minimal energy and artificial light to limit cooling needs. Yemoja emphasizes a chemical-free, all-natural cultivation process and minimal environmental impact. The company has partnered with Migal Galilee Research Institute and European bodies on a Horizon 2020 project targeting algae-based small molecules for inflammatory bowel disease, which has just moved into its next phase. Financially, Yemoja raised US$4 million in seed funding, including investment from the Israel Innovation Authority.
