Portugal Ventures is a publicly owned venture capital company that makes equity investments in Portuguese startups, with a recent focus on tourism. In Q1 2024 it deployed €5.3 million into tourism startups via the Call Turismo+Growth (Call Turismo+Crescimento) initiative. The programme is run in partnership with Banco Português de Fomento, Turismo de Portugal and Nest – Innovation Centre for Tourism. The investments targeted five companies: Batardas, Circular Unity, Neptune, Yon Living and Your Tours, spanning foodstuffs, nautical, technology and sustainability segments. Portugal Ventures says the aim is to create synergies across sectors to strengthen Portugal’s tourism offer and respond to an emerging market. The firm’s activity under this programme is intended to improve the tourist experience and promote efficiency in sector companies.
