Overview
Yoneda Labs is developing a foundation AI model for chemists to analyze and predict outcomes of chemical reactions, aiming to reduce failed experiments and boost productivity in drug discovery and chemical manufacturing. The company generated proprietary data from 20,000 reactions during Y Combinator and reported that, in a small-scale trial, its models suggested good conditions in 95% of cases. Yoneda built an initial prototype that improved lab workflows and was accepted to Y Combinator. With the seed funding, the team plans to build out a robotics lab to run the remaining 20,000 reactions to continue training its model. Later this year they aim to run and analyze 200 experiments per day, the equivalent output of roughly 20 full-time chemists. The founding team met at the University of Cambridge and has backgrounds in chemistry, robotics, and machine learning.
