Overview
Yousign is a SaaS e-signature provider and certification authority that complies with Europe’s eIDAS framework and archives documents via a partnership with Arkhineo. The product offers templates, approval workflows, reminders, strong authentication and timestamping to ensure legally binding signatures. The company targets SMBs that are not yet using e-signature tools and aims to be a Europe-first alternative to U.S. incumbents. Yousign says customers can sign their first documents within an hour and charges via subscription. It has 6,000 clients today and plans to reach 50,000 European SMBs by 2024, which it projects would represent about $85 million in ARR (€70 million). The company grew headcount from 35 to 120 in 2020 and plans to hire 150 more employees over the next 18 months. Yousign is a French e-signature provider offering document upload, automated emails and notifications, legally binding signatures, archiving, templates, and an API. The company is available in France, Germany, the U.K. and Spain and aims to build a pan‑European e-signature solution. eFounders has partnered with and invested in Yousign, buying out existing investors for several millions of euros to clean the cap table. In the transaction eFounders acquired around 50% of the company through an SPV it controls, while holding 25% directly and with 25% held by investors in the eFounders eClub. Founders reportedly still retain the majority of shares despite the transaction. The company faces the challenge of Europe’s fragmented market and must convince users in different countries to switch to its solution. Yousign develops electronic-signature solutions for signing agreements and contracts and serves roughly 1,500 customers. The company raised €3 million in new funding to bolster its presence around Europe and to hire additional staff. The funds will be used to hire about twenty people this year across technical, sales and marketing roles. Yousign plans to step up development for large-enterprise customers with a new product called Yousign Corporate. Management says the financing will help structure the company for a planned European launch at the end of the year. The article notes that e-signatures have been officially recognized in France since 2000, although adoption among companies remains uneven.
