Yulex manufactures biobased elastomer products—natural rubber and resins—derived from the desert plant guayule, and also produces cellulosic feedstocks combusted to produce bioenergy. The company closed a $15M private financing led by Argonaut Private Equity to expand its natural rubber production capabilities. Proceeds will fund a new production facility in the Lone Butte Industrial Park in Chandler, Arizona, a five‑acre site expandable to 20 acres with two clear‑span production buildings totaling 60,000 square feet and an office building. Increased commercial production of guayule natural rubber and feedstocks is expected to commence by early 2012. The investment will also be used to ramp up commercialization infrastructure through hiring key executives in product development, marketing and engineering. Yulex is led by President and CEO Jeff Martin.
