YUR ("why you are") is a San Francisco-based virtual reality fitness company and community founded by Cix Liv and Dilan Shah. The company builds calorie-tracking software that is installed directly on VR headsets and requires no additional hardware. YUR has released an Oculus Quest app on Sidequest and a mobile companion app in beta that syncs to Apple Health and Google Fit to track activity outside of virtual reality. Its technology detects how players move in games to provide specific health and fitness recommendations and to gamify exercise. The founders aim to harness gaming to combat sedentary behavior and have described YUR as aiming to be "the Peloton of the future" by making fitness a game. YUR recently raised $1.1 million in pre-seed funding to support its product and community growth.
