YZR
12 Rue du Helder, Paris, Ile-de-France, 75009, France
Overview
YZR provides a no-code, plug-and-play data preparation platform delivered as SaaS that uses AI-powered standardisation, labelling and context-understanding with sector-specific semantic knowledge to normalise and prepare data for downstream ingestion. The platform targets retail and e-commerce customers and counts clients such as Monoprix, La Redoute, Clear Channel, Aramis Auto and BNP Paribas. Founded in September 2019 by Sébastien Garcin and Jean-Philippe Poisson and based in Paris, the company says its technology can simplify the work of roughly 54 million data workers who manually standardise data. YZR plans to use the new funding to scale operations, improve its product (with a focus on health and consumer data), make strategic hires and widen its global reach into European and U.S. markets, including establishing a U.S. subsidiary. The startup was a recipient of the Galion Booster award in 2020. Financially, YZR raised $12M in a Series A and previously secured more than $2M in seed funding in 2021. Yzr, founded in 2018 and based in Paris, builds a machine-learning solution to ‘normalize’ and standardize data. Its product is offered as an API plus a SaaS platform that analyzes whether two words are the same without attempting to understand meaning. The company targets the time-consuming first step of data preparation—standardization—which an IDC study found occupies a third of data scientists’ time. Yzr reports an automatic reliability rate of about 85% and intentionally avoids sensitive sectors like health or autonomous cars due to precision and responsibility concerns. The startup recently raised €2 million in seed funding and plans to use the proceeds to consolidate in France and expand to the United States by the end of 2021. Founder Sébastien Garcin says customers accept the 85% reliability because the margin of error has little impact on their bottom line.
