Zady is a shopping platform built for consumers who care about the origins of the items they purchase, providing detailed information on designers, makers, raw materials and manufacturing. The company was founded by Soraya Darabi (Foodspotting co‑founder) and Maxine Bédat and planned a public launch in late August. Every item sold on Zady is personally vetted by the founders against sustainability criteria such as local sourcing, handmade production, high‑quality raw materials, environmental consciousness, or U.S. manufacture. Partner brands must sign a contract verifying company location, manufacturing city, and raw‑material sources. Brand partners mentioned include Imogene + Willie, Clare Vivier, Ecoalf, Gerald & Stewart, and Karmo. Five percent of proceeds from every sale are designated for The Bootstrap Project, a nonprofit that promotes and helps retain traditional crafts and customs.
