Zeera began in 2019 as a brick-and-mortar therapy business called Real and pivoted in June 2024 to an audio-first, anonymous mental-health app. The product delivers short sessions and longer collections that blend therapist tools, group-style stories, and podcast-style production, with an algorithm personalizing recommendations. The company says its audio-only content achieves the same clinical outcomes as one-on-one therapy. Zeera has prioritized anonymity (audio only, video off, names hidden) and on-demand recordings to increase accessibility and engagement. The app has enrolled about 100,000 people in its first year and exceeded prior company mental-health engagement rates by 14X. Zeera also sells its service as an employee health benefit; its first corporate partner was a big four accounting firm and 100% of customers have renewed contracts. The founder, Ariela Safira, built the product with input from clinicians and experts from Spotify and Netflix to design the experience and recommendation system.
