Overview

Zeitview develops a Visual AI platform that improves inspection times and reduces costs for critical infrastructure owners and operators. Its software serves multiple asset categories including solar, wind, utilities, properties and telecom, allowing it to act as a single partner across sectors. The company says its platform addresses skilled labor shortages and increased inspection frequencies by enabling faster, predictive asset assessments. Zeitview plans to accelerate the buildout of instant, predictive Visual AI and increase investment in its Insights software to support customers across asset lifecycles. In 2024 the company more than doubled inspections to over 200,000 assets across 80 countries, demonstrating scale across expansive portfolios. Zeitview positions itself as a market leader in visual AI for critical infrastructure and is focused on expanding deployment globally. Zeitview builds airborne and ground data-capture technology that uses drones, thermal sensors and AI algorithms to detect and classify anomalies on assets such as wind turbines and solar panels. The company sells inspection imagery and machine-learning-powered insights to asset owners, OEMs, utilities, investors, insurers and property managers, and offers delivery as a service, software for customer self-inspection, or hybrid models. Zeitview packages site-level ratings and premium reporting services for large-scale solar and other infrastructure. The company says its solutions aim to improve asset performance and lower operations and maintenance spend while providing safer, faster and more accurate inspections. Founded in 2014, Zeitview has around 200 employees and recently rebranded from DroneBase. Management plans to use new funding for product expansion, customer acquisition and ongoing recruitment. DroneBase operates a drones-as-a-service platform that captures high-resolution aerial and thermal imagery and applies AI-assisted anomaly detection and consultancy to deliver risk-management reports. The company claims a network of over 80,000 pilots across 70 countries and more than 1,100 clients, and offers mission-planning tools and imagery-hosting with integrations to third-party apps. DroneBase combines manned aircraft and UAV operators with a team of consultants to process and analyze field data for sectors such as renewables, commercial real estate, and insurance. The startup has expanded into Europe and says it deploys hardware-agnostic flight systems and predesigned flight paths for rapid inspections of wind turbines and other infrastructure. Management reports the business is an "8-figure revenue company," currently employs 65 people, and plans to grow the workforce to 100 by 2022. DroneBase operates an aerial data management platform that leverages a network of over 80,000 drone pilots and manned aircraft to deliver inspections and analytics for enterprise customers. The company serves Fortune 500 and other large customers across renewables, insurance, construction, real estate, telecommunications, and critical infrastructure. Over eighteen months it expanded into renewables, growing a renewables customer base covering 37 GW across 10 countries and completing over 100,000 commercial missions in more than 70 countries and all 50 states. Prior to the funding round DroneBase acquired PrecisionXYZ to expand its specialized data analytics services and hired Mark Culpepper to head its solar division. The company has raised $37.5 million in total funding to date and reported closing a $12.5 million Series C. Headquartered in Los Angeles and incubated by Y Combinator, DroneBase says it is scaling internationally to be a one-stop provider for multi-continent customers. DroneBase offers a software platform and the world’s largest Pilot Network to deliver high‑definition aerial imagery and analytics for enterprise clients. The company recently launched DroneBase Insights for Wind and Solar, enabling autonomous flight inspections, machine‑learning pre‑screening of turbine imagery, and thermal analysis for solar assets via a FLIR‑trained pilot network. DroneBase says the platform provides consistent data, actionable insights, lifecycle management and will be able to detect issues across most wind and solar field components. The firm has expanded internationally with the formation of DroneBase Europe in Germany while continuing to serve industries including renewable energy, insurance, construction, real estate, telecommunications and media. DroneBase reports more than 100,000 commercial missions flown in over 70 countries and all 50 U.S. states, and it says it increased sales and set new revenue records in March, April and May. The company has raised a total of $32 million in funding to date from investors including FLIR Systems, Union Square Ventures, Upfront Ventures, Hearst Ventures, Pritzker Group Venture Capital, Valor Equity Partners, Razi Ventures, Accel Partners, SV Angel and DJI.
