48 Rue René Clair, Paris, Ile-de-France, 75018, France
Overview
Zembo, founded in 2018, builds and assembles electric motorcycles and operates a network of solar charging and battery-swapping stations in Uganda. It sells motorcycles through rent-to-own/lease-to-own programs working with external financial institutions. Zembo also offers a battery-as-a-service model allowing riders to swap discharged batteries for charged ones at a fee. Its motorcycles travel about 37 miles (60 km) per charge. The company plans to scale its fleet and charging infrastructure across Kampala and beyond, and sees particular growth potential in its battery and solar-panel businesses. Recent investors include corporate and impact-focused backers supporting its expansion plans.
