Zently builds a renter-focused app that simplifies communications between renters and landlords, starting with maintenance reporting and connecting renters to local service providers. The app also simplifies rent payments: landlords that adopt Zently can receive ACH payments, otherwise Zently sends monthly rent checks on renters' behalf. A recent update lets the app hook into bank and credit-card accounts so roommates can flag household purchases and automatically reconcile who owes whom. The master tenant can now collect rent from multiple roommates in one place instead of relying on PayPal, Venmo, or Square Cash. Zently was founded by a couple of LinkedIn alums and is led by founder Sachit Kamat. With $1.6 million in new funding, the company plans to grow its renter user base to drive broader landlord adoption.
