ZenWTR packages bottled water in 100% recycled PET made with certified ocean plastic and markets an alkaline (pH 9.5) vapor-distilled product with added electrolytes. The water is processed via reverse osmosis, vapor distillation and UV treatment, and the bottles use ocean-diverted plastic certified by OceanCycle and recycled into rPET by CarbonLITE. Bottled in southern California, the brand is currently available in nearly 5,000 stores including Walmart, Safeway and H.E.B., and Collins is working with distributors to reach another 20,000–30,000 retail doors. Founder Lance Collins has invested $5M personally and says he has raised an additional $10M from partners, which he expects will fund the business for a couple of years. ZenWTR commits 1% of sales to ocean cleanup charities, and Collins claims the use of ocean plastic enabled rescuing more than 70M bottles from the marine environment in 2020. Collins leverages prior CPG experience (he sold CORE to Keurig Dr Pepper for $525M in 2018) as he scales distribution and national coverage.
