Zepeto is a Korean metaverse platform operated by Naver Z that lets users work, play and interact through avatars. Users can buy and wear virtual fashion items and meet celebrities in virtual spaces; brands including Ralph Lauren and Gucci have worked with Zepeto. The platform has about 2 million daily active users and, according to Sensor Tower, was downloaded 400,000 times in July. About 70% of users are female and between the ages of 13 and 24, giving Zepeto a large Gen Z and Gen A following. The company is described as three years old and is valued at more than $1 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal. Major brands and investors have partnered with or invested in Zepeto as companies compete to define virtual environments and reach younger online audiences.
