Zero Egg produces a plant-based egg alternative made from plant proteins including soy, potatoes, peas and chickpeas, and its product contains 15 calories versus 68 calories for a conventional egg. Led by CEO and co-founder Liron Nimrodi, the company offers a low-calorie substitute for eggs in cooking and baking. Zero Egg is distributed in the U.S., Israel and Europe. The company raised $5m in a Series A round and will use the funds to grow the brand in the U.S. and support new product launches in the coming year. Powerplant Ventures led the financing alongside existing investors Unovis Asset Management–New Crop Capital and Strauss Group–The Kitchen Hub. In conjunction with the funding, Powerplant Ventures partner T.K. Pillan joined Zero Egg’s board of directors.
