ZeroPoint
Austin, TX, United States
Overview
ZeroPoint develops nanosecond-scale, lossless memory compression that compresses data just before it enters RAM and decompresses it afterwards, effectively widening the memory channel by 50% or more. The company says its system can compress and decompress in a handful of nanoseconds—about three to four—compared with thousands for most technologies. ZeroPoint works on compacting and reorganizing compressed cache-line sized data (sometimes 512 bits) with transparency so existing systems need no major architectural changes. Its product is intended to be added onto chips and licensed to chipmakers and system integrators targeting high-performance computing. The startup is positioning the technology as a cost-saving measure for hyperscalers and other organizations running power-hungry AI workloads, arguing the effective memory doubling can pay for itself. ZeroPoint recently closed new funding to support U.S. expansion and further development in Sweden.
