CloseWatch develops a crime-reporting, tipping and analytics platform and the iWatch mobile app to enable everyday citizens to report suspicious activity to appropriate law enforcement and government agencies. Its iTAG (intelligent tactical alert groups) system categorizes inbound tips using FBI uniform crime reporting codes and automatically routes tips by rank, role and region; severe offenses are forwarded to agencies and officers in the relevant location. The platform processes tips in less than eight seconds, supports anonymous or identified reporting, and can deliver emergency notifications to users. CloseWatch ran a pilot across 280 schools in Texas and is deploying iWatch across more than 20 U.S. Army domestic bases to bolster anti-terrorism and crime-prevention efforts. The company works with federal entities including the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration, as well as mass transit systems, school districts, hospitals and higher-education institutions. CloseWatch closed a $1.49 million seed round to further build out the platform and validate its efficacy across hundreds of communities in the Southern United States.
