Zimpl AB is developing a new method for text messaging on mobile phones that lets users write words by pressing the first letter and moving a finger in one of eight directions. The system predicts and suggests the next word from previous ones and adapts automatically and continuously based on the user’s own choice of words. Zimpl intends to license the technology to mobile phone manufacturers so it can be built into phones from the start. The company will use the SEK5m funding for market launch and further product development. Zimpl is led by CEO Imre Zvorinji, and mobile phone veteran Tord Wingren will be the company’s new chairman. Backers include Industrifonden, MST Venture and Tord Wingren, with Industrifonden committing SEK4m.
