Zinio operates a global digital newsstand and bookstore that provides access to thousands of magazine titles from most major publishers in multiple languages. Its platform lets users read publications online or offline on desktop (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux) and mobile devices including iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, WebOS, Android handsets, and a recently launched Kindle Fire offering. Originally founded in 2000, the company is owned by David H. Gilmour and run by founder and CEO Richard Maggiotto, with Doug Carlson listed on regulatory filings. Zinio recently appointed Virendra Vase as its COO. The company is headquartered in San Francisco and maintains offices in New York City, London, Paris, Barcelona and Taipei. An SEC filing shows Zinio raised $20 million in new funding.
