Overview
Zumbl is a chat system that finds random people based on shared interests and places them into rooms populated by users with similar tastes. The service emphasizes evolving avatars that change based on user behavior and feedback tags provided after conversations. It includes moderation tools—upvotes, downvotes and tags—to encourage civil tone, plus a Snake-like waiting game to occupy users between chats. Founders Abhishek Gupta and Saurabh Kumar dropped out of college to join the Digital Media Zone incubator in Toronto in 2012 and run an eight-member student team. The site has seen about 3,000 users in the past few days and is processing roughly 450,000 messages per day across 15,000 chats while still in alpha. The team says it is bullish on growth and is focused on maintaining community culture as the site scales.
