Zuva is an AI-powered document processing platform that uses machine learning to extract data points from contracts and other documents. It offers over 1,200 trained models out of the box that present extracted information in structured question-and-answer forms and support over 36 different business agreement types. The company is a spinout from Kira Systems and will continue to develop Kira’s core machine learning technology. Zuva launched with 30 Kira Systems employees—primarily in technical machine learning research roles—and plans to expand its workforce to 45–50 employees by the end of the year. The newly closed $20M Series A will be used for hiring, product, sales and marketing development, and R&D for current and future products. Since launch the company says it has signed three customers and competes in the broader intelligent document processing market alongside large vendors and startups.
