MAUI Imaging develops Computed Echo Tomography (CET), a volumetric ultrasound approach that combines benefits of ultrasound and CT without ionizing radiation using a concave probe and proprietary algorithms. Its MAUI K3900 device received 510(k) FDA clearance in October 2023 and the company is delivering devices to initial users. MAUI’s technology claims to visualize anatomy (including cranium and lung) that conventional ultrasound cannot, enabled by over 160 granted patents and algorithms that correct speed-of-sound aberrations. The company is conducting clinical studies with the military and other partners to validate capabilities in trauma and resource-limited settings. In August 2024 MAUI announced a $4 million Department of Defense contract to advance trauma medicine across four military branches and implement work at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. MAUI plans to use recent funding to support production, sales, and marketing and to supply volumetric imaging data for AI-driven diagnostic tools.
