  • mxHero

    Participated · Seed · Jul 2014

MxHero develops email file-management products with a primary offering called Mail2Cloud, a server-side tool designed to organize and offload email attachments to cloud storage. Mail2Cloud operates between an email server and cloud storage vendors and supports Google Apps, Office 365, Exchange and Zimbra. On the cloud side it works with Box and Google Drive today and the company is working on versions to support Microsoft OneDrive and Dropbox. The product strips attachments, stores them in cloud folders organized by sender, deduplicates and labels versions, and leverages cloud features such as mobile preview and document collaboration. CEO and co‑founder Alex Panagides frames the product as part of an emerging convergence of email and cloud storage and highlights efficiency and storage-size benefits. The company recently completed its seed financing, bringing its seed total to $1.8M. mxHero provides a platform for developers and enterprises to build email applications that sit on top of major mail systems, offering features like sending large emails, signature management, attachment tracking, and reply-timeout reminders. Its platform can deploy applications across Gmail, Microsoft, Zimbra, and Lotus, and includes an integrated application store and administrative dashboard for developers. The company serves 90,000 users on the Google Apps Marketplace and more than 350,000 users worldwide, and has recently expanded to the AWS Marketplace. mxHero graduated from the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator. The team plans to use new funding to hire engineering and sales staff and to work closely with leading app stores and marketplaces. Leadership intends to launch power-user Gmail extension capabilities and unique cloud storage and security integrations.

  • LocalBonus

    Participated · Seed · Aug 2012

LocalBonus offers a universal loyalty program that ties points to users' debit or credit cards, removing the need for apps, check-ins, or punchcards. Once a card is registered, transactions at participating merchants automatically accrue points that can be redeemed for cash. The startup currently operates in five U.S. markets — New York City, Denver, Seattle, Portland and Sacramento — and works with more than 800 merchants. To improve its product and expand into other markets, LocalBonus closed a $900,000 seed financing led by Payment Ventures. Tony VanBrackle of Payment Ventures joined the company's board as part of the round. The company graduated from the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator and was founded by CEO Derek Webster, who previously advised banks at Oliver Wyman and ran credit card product development at E*TRADE.
