SOLAYER is a Dresden-based company that develops advanced physical vapor deposition (PVD) sputtering systems used to coat precision optical components. Its equipment enables high-performance films for technologies such as 3D sensors, 5G networks, and LIDAR, addressing the growing demand for sophisticated optics in next-generation devices. The firm’s products target manufacturers that require tight process control and high throughput for mass production. With fresh capital in hand, SOLAYER intends to intensify its R&D programs, boost mass-production capacity, and execute a global expansion strategy. A key element of this expansion is a new demo lab to be installed at AMEC’s facility in China, which will help showcase the company’s tools to Asian customers. SOLAYER’s partnership with AMEC also gives it a new distribution channel while allowing the company to keep its core R&D, manufacturing, and business operations in Germany. Although the company did not disclose revenue or user metrics, co-founder Doug Schatz described the financing as a major milestone for the firm’s next stage of growth.
