- CHASM Advanced Materials
Led · Debt Financing · Apr 2022
CHASM Advanced Materials is a Massachusetts-based company working in advanced materials. The company recently finalized a $25 million intellectual property-based funding arrangement with Aon. Aon's IP Solutions team combined proprietary IP valuation tools and a collateral protection insurance policy to create an IP-collateralized debt structure for CHASM. That structure enabled CHASM to raise additional funds by leveraging its intangible assets. Aon says it is working with IP-rich companies like CHASM to help them seek access to minimally dilutive growth capital. Aon was also recently named to Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies list and is promoting such IP-based capital solutions. Chasm Advanced Materials invents and manufactures nanotube hybrids, a new class of advanced materials used to improve device technology, transportation, infrastructure, healthcare and natural resources. Its commercial product lines include AgeNT™ for transparent flexible printed electronics, NTeC™ for energy storage, coatings and composite additives, and Signis™ for touch buttons and sensors with superior environmental stability. The company plans to launch CHASM-H2O™ — a new category of membranes targeted at disrupting water treatment to address global water scarcity. Led by CEO David Arthur, Chasm supplies global manufacturers across multiple industries that have brought first-to-market products using its materials. In August 2021 the company closed a $15M Series C to support commercial penetration of its product lines and the CHASM-H2O™ launch.
