Pimcore offers a free, open-source platform that combines customer experience management, digital asset management, product information management, multi-channel publishing and e-commerce functionality. The vendor provides three editions: a free community edition, an enterprise edition for complex data and experience scenarios, and a new cloud edition as a configurable SaaS product. The community edition is used by most of Pimcore’s roughly 100,000 customers. The company emphasizes open-source licensing and customer control over intellectual property and software. Pimcore plans to use new funding to accelerate commercialisation of the platform and to continue developing its data and experience management capabilities. The raise is intended to support the company’s global expansion efforts. Pimcore offers an open-source, out-of-the-box platform for managing digital data and customer experience across channels and devices. The company positions itself as an alternative to proprietary data-management vendors such as SAP and Informatica. Pimcore says it aims to disrupt traditional licensing business models as enterprises increasingly adopt open source. Founded in 2013 and emerged out of Austria, it reports over 82,000 customers across 56 countries, including Audi, Burger King, Continental and Intersport. The company recently acquired U.S.-based Pimcore Global Services and its outsourcing infrastructure in Delhi to bolster services and delivery. Management plans to use new funding to accelerate expansion in the U.S. market.
