HyperSpectral is an Alexandria, VA–based startup that fuses physics-based spectroscopy with advanced AI algorithms to provide real-time “spectral intelligence.” Its flagship SpecAI™ platform analyzes spectral data to identify bacteriological pathogens and other chemical or material signatures within minutes and without lab preparation. The technology targets MedTech, food safety, industrial, and defense use cases, promising lower costs, faster cycle times, and higher reliability than traditional methods. Since exiting stealth in 2024, the company has received recognition as a Gartner Emerging Tech Innovator, an R&D 100 finalist, and a SPIE Prism Award winner. Founders CEO Matt Theurer and COO Lauren Stack were named Washingtonian Magazine’s 2025 “Tech Titans of the Year,” underscoring the team’s profile. HyperSpectral intends to leverage its spectral data advantage to expand partnerships and scale globally, aiming for a larger Series B financing in 2026. The firm has so far secured a $7 million Series A-2 round to extend product development and build its customer base; no revenue or user figures have been disclosed.
