Mitú is a Santa Monica, California–based Latino digital media company led by CEO Roy Burstin that partners with top digital talent to create culturally relevant content for young audiences. The company operates content properties such as WeAreMitu.com and social media feeds on platforms including Facebook and YouTube. Mitú reports 2 billion global monthly views and a community of more than 6,000 Latino creators. It secured $27M in Series C funding and has raised $43M in total to date. Mitú intends to use the funds to invest in product and technology to expand its content publishing platform and audience data tools, launch its influencer-marketing platform (mituberos.com), and grow its ecosystem of apps. MiTú is a Culver City, CA–based media brand dedicated to Latino content for a young, global audience, primarily operating as a YouTube network for Spanish speakers. Its programming covers beauty, food, DIY, home, health and recently launched male pop culture coverage. The company aggregates roughly 1,200 video creators and reports 400 million monthly video views and 40 million subscribers. MiTú raised $10M to support expansion efforts and plans to build up its presence outside YouTube. The company is hiring to support growth. A prior financing was reported in December 2012. MiTú is a multi-channel YouTube network exclusively dedicated to Latino content, partnering with creators to launch and grow English- and Spanish-language channels on YouTube. The network focuses on lifestyle verticals including beauty, fashion, health, food, home and pop culture. Founded and led by Latino TV veterans Doug Greiff, Beatriz Acevedo, and Roy Burstin and headquartered in Los Angeles, MiTú works to expand audiences, scale production, and connect creators with the global marketplace. Since launch seven months ago the network features more than 350 channels and has accumulated over 800 million total network views across a subscriber base exceeding 2.3 million. Proceeds from the recent financing will be used to expand MiTú’s US, Mexico and Colombia channel recruiting, partnerships, and monetization teams. The company emphasizes a consumer-focused brand targeting a young, global Latino audience underserved by traditional television.
