Kempus operates an anonymous, school-verified community platform where U.S. college students join their own campus groups to share course reviews, housing feedback, textbook tips and other college “hacks.” Users verify with school emails but remain anonymous; the app is designed to build a unique dataset within higher education. The company emphasizes a self-governing moderation model (community flagging) plus a rewards/points layer to incentivize contributions, positioning itself as a facilitator rather than a large-scale moderator. Kempus is targeting early adoption through outreach to student associations and faculty and launched an MVP in late January. Incorporated in August 2022, the team is still assessing product-market fit. Financially, Kempus recently raised a $3 million seed round from Bithumb Korea and says it has no plans to associate the product with cryptocurrencies despite that investor’s crypto background.
