Patchwork Health provides a healthcare workforce platform offering collaborative staff banks, a flexible rostering solution, an Agency Manager for selecting temporary staff, and Patchwork Insights for staffing analytics. The platform targets NHS and other healthcare organisations to widen temporary staffing pools and enable more sustainable rostering for permanent staff. The company was founded in 2016 by NHS medics Dr Anas Nader and Dr Jing Ouyang and is based in London. It has a team of over 100 employees. Patchwork intends to use new funding to strengthen customer-facing teams, accelerate development of products and features for healthcare clients, expand into international markets, and extend services into new health areas and sectors. The company recently completed a £20m Series B, reflecting its current fundraising progress. Patchwork Health, founded in 2016 by NHS doctors Anas Nader and Jing Ouyang, replaces spreadsheet rostering with a dashboard that predicts when temporary staff will be needed. Shifts are broadcast to an app where temporary staff select shifts that suit them, while credential passporting, HR paperwork and payments are handled within the system. The platform also allows full-time healthcare workers to have personal preferences reflected in their rotas without creating staffing gaps, the company says. It is used by over 70 NHS sites to fill vacant shifts and offer staff flexible working hours. The article frames the product against NHS pressures, noting 90,000 vacancies and that one in five staff are considering quitting due to stress and exhaustion. Company executives and investors say the service aims to tackle root causes of burnout and strengthen staffing foundations in hospitals. Patchwork Health is a healthtech startup that provides a platform and clinician-facing app to enable NHS Trusts to fill vacant shifts and support flexible working for clinicians. Its technology includes tailored portals for NHS Trusts and an app that drives clinicians to book shifts directly with hospitals. The company was founded in 2016 by NHS doctors Anas Nader and Jing Ouyang and operates in London, Manchester and Liverpool. More than 10,000 clinicians across over 30 hospitals use the Patchwork app, with over 1 million shift hours booked since launch. In January 2020 Patchwork raised £3m in funding led by Praetura Ventures, with participation from BMJ and existing angel investors. As part of the fundraise, Praetura's managing director David Foreman will join the Patchwork board as a non-executive director.
