Overview
Brand Ventures is the strategic investment arm of Rockfish, one of the fastest growing digital agencies in the country. We're redefining the term "strategic investor" with the inception of Brand Ventures, a new model of agency ventures that brings emerging digital innovations together with client relationships. The goal is to invest with our clients and start-ups, resulting in accelerated innovation and shared success. Brand Ventures operates by supplying select start-ups with funding and connections, and in turn ramping up their growth rate and chances for success. We also partner these start-ups with our clients. This provides clients with premier access to the best emerging innovations well before anyone else. This partnership gives start-ups the chance to build relationships with established brands and companies, while utilizing Brand Ventures diverse abilities and areas of expertise.

Promoboxx is a SaaS-based marketing platform that enables national brands to connect and align with local retailers to drive revenue. The platform allows corporate marketing teams to share digital content and campaigns that retailers can localize and approve in simple steps. Led by CEO and co-founder Ben Carcio, Promoboxx works with over 30 leading brands across industries including outdoor, footwear, auto, appliance, flooring, animal nutrition and hearing aids. The company connects and aligns over 16,000 retail locations. Promoboxx raised $8.2M in Series A financing and intends to use the funds to scale U.S. and overseas operations for its marketing platform. The company is a TechStars Boston 2011 graduate and is based in Boston, Massachusetts. Promoboxx provides a brand-to-retailer marketing platform that lets brands create a single promotion which is automatically tailored for each retailer and enables retailers to set up local online promotions in minutes via a dashboard. Built-in sharing pushes promotions to Facebook, Twitter and other social channels, and the platform tracks impact (clicks, conversions) from the same dashboard. The company has run more than 30 campaigns for 10 brand customers, including Chevrolet, Volkswagen, Trek Bicycles and Reebok, and landed Chevy’s Super Bowl campaign. Promoboxx reports 400% revenue growth in 2012, employs 15 people, and is a TechStars Boston 2011 graduate based in Boston. The new funding will be used to hire sales, client services and development staff, and the company is looking for a VP/Director of Product. Promoboxx plans to debut a full self-service product in March aimed at small-to-mid-sized brands. Promoboxx offers an online service that lets retailers set up local promotions—sweepstakes, coupons, giveaways—in minutes and publish them via email and social channels like Facebook. Brands can create a single promotion that’s automatically customized for an unlimited number of retailers, while tracking impressions, leads and conversion rates from a central dashboard. The backend provides a drag-and-drop promo builder, real-time conversion reports, custom entry forms, data exports, templated legal contest rules and privacy policy forms, and support for Facebook tabs and like-gated entry. The company positions itself to capture online spend from the nearly $30 billion brands currently spend supporting retailers offline, noting that 90% of products are still sold through physical stores. Promoboxx works with brands including Primesport, Cat Footwear, Bates Footwear, Vertx and Mattingly Sports. It is headquartered in Kendal Square, Cambridge, MA and has closed a $565,000 seed round.
