CapaciTech specialises in working with Pan–African startups that use technology to scale, specifically to advise and capacitate in the areas of technology, marketing and human resources. Investments are made in parallel with partner collaborations to help foster innovative ideas into successful businesses. Investors and limited partners have the peace of mind that investments are more than just an extension of the runway of a business; money only changes hands once subject matter experts confirm that the required capabilities can viably be deployed into the business. The team is made up of seasoned investors, experienced entrepreneurs and professional advisers from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. Investments and signed SAFE agreements to date include companies incorporated in Delaware, Mauritius and South Africa. GotBot, founded in 2016 by Chris Green and Nick Argyros and based in Johannesburg with a Cape Town team, integrates artificial intelligence into retail and customer-relationship-management, ERP and telephony systems for financial services, insurance and retail clients. The startup operates a SaaS platform and is pushing automation across WhatsApp Business. It has signed corporate clients including Toyota, RCS, African Bank, Home Choice, Old Mutual Finance and Attacq Property Group. GotBot employs eight staff split between Cape Town (operations, development and DevOps) and Johannesburg (sales, administration and accounts), and maintains a sales director in the UK. Following a R2.5m investment from Capaci.Tech, the company has expanded its development and DevOps team to improve platform capabilities and is pursuing international interest from the US, India and South‑East Asia. The startup has also received offers for future funding rounds.
