iskn develops an augmented interaction technology platform that links physical objects to the digital world via a smart surface and companion apps. Its product lineup includes the Imagink app (launched October 2015) and the Slate, which combines paper and pencil with digital capture. The core technology is a sensor surface that spatially identifies and locates a magnet in real time across X, Y and Z axes. The company holds 20 families of patents protecting this approach. iskn says the system lets any object fitted with a simple magnet interact with the surface and the digital world, increasing objects’ digital utility. Financially, the company announced a €10.5M funding round to support product rollout and growth. Iskn develops and commercializes iSketchnote, an iPad cover that digitizes paper sketches, drawings and notes in real time. Users place a notebook on its no-slip surface and draw; the work is digitized on the iPad screen via the iSketchnote app. The app lets users edit, save and share digitized documents. The company targets illustrators, designers and other professionals who work on paper. Iskn has raised seed funding to support its commercialization and product activities, and previously crowdfunded $346,127 on Kickstarter in September 2013.
