Founded in 2024, Tools for the Commons is a Brazilian startup creating a marketplace of jurisdictions—digital and physical zones that share common rules, governance, and blockchain-enabled infrastructure. Through this platform, companies, funds, and individuals can select the most efficient regulatory and tax environments, reducing bureaucratic friction while accessing tailored business ecosystems. The firm already oversees zones in Zanzibar (East Africa) and Honduras (Central America) and positions itself as an exporter of institutional solutions such as special economic zones and differentiated tax regimes. Its ‘network-state’ model aims to interconnect hundreds of zones under a unified digital architecture, attracting residents, businesses, and capital. The startup’s team is predominantly Brazilian but is focused on global expansion, with near-term plans for additional zones across Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
