Founded in 2022 in Munich by Hansi Flick, Jonathan Sierck, Marcus Englert and Sebastian Weil, Padelcity operates and franchises padel facilities and sells and rents equipment while generating sponsorship revenue. As of the article, the company runs 24 sites with 190 padel courts in Germany and reports a community of about 300,000 active players. The business model mixes company-owned venues, a franchise model, equipment sales and rentals, and sponsorships. Padelcity recently opened its first facility in Warsaw and is close to opening a location in Innsbruck as it expands internationally. In partnership with Compagnie des Alpes' Urban Group, Padelcity and Urban Group already operate around 350 padel courts in Europe and aim to increase that to more than 600 within a year. The company targets over 40 locations and roughly 350 courts by end of 2026 and, together with Urban Group, aims for approximately €150 million in revenue by 2029.
