PlusOne builds VR/AR and AI-driven English learning products centered on a VR product called Smart Tutor (featuring an AI hologram “Holosapiens”) and a smartphone app, Smart Tutor LITE, that uses OpenAI GPT for conversational practice. The VR product launched to corporate customers in 2018 and to consumers in 2020; the smartphone app enables on-the-go practice and ties into news content via a Nikkei LissN partnership. The company has established a Japan sales subsidiary and targets Japanese English learners while planning expansion into other Asian and global markets. PlusOne says it will use the latest funding to strengthen development, customer success, sales & marketing, and corporate management. The company was founded in August 2016 and is headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Cumulative funding to date is approximately ¥850 million.
