Founded in January 2022 as a carve-out from the University of Tokyo, Renatus Robotics builds RENATUS, an integrated automated warehouse system combining omnidirectional high-speed shuttles with a proprietary fleet-control algorithm. The platform allows a single operator to perform picking, sorting, inspection, and packaging without moving, cutting labor costs by up to one-third. RENATUS can coordinate fleets of up to 2,000 shuttles that travel along near-optimal routes while requiring minimal fixed installation equipment, keeping upfront costs low. In live operations launched in September 2024, the system has achieved shipping throughput exceeding 300 lines per hour and receiving throughput of more than 300 totes per hour with one operator. Customer trials in Chiba and Aichi prefectures show the technology’s applicability to both logistics and manufacturing sites. The company’s roadmap includes building fully unmanned warehouses. Financial details remain limited, but Renatus has secured an undisclosed strategic investment from mechatronics specialist Daido to accelerate market adoption.
