Limenet builds carbon-negative technology that manufactures decarbonized lime which, when introduced into seawater, triggers a natural chemical reaction converting atmospheric CO₂ into stable bicarbonates. This ocean alkalinity enhancement approach simultaneously removes carbon and combats ocean acidification. Led by CEO Stefano Cappello, the Milan startup positions itself as a carbon dioxide removal (CDR) leader within Europe’s climate-tech sector. The company recently secured €7 million to consolidate its market leadership and accelerate product development. Although no revenue or user metrics were disclosed, the new capital signals investor confidence from both institutional and strategic backers. Limenet plans to channel the funds into scaling its lime production processes and advancing commercialization of its CDR solutions.
