Ninua builds social apps around news, blogs, and social media, including the Ninua News Reader for Android and NetworkedBlogs, a Facebook app. The Ninua News Reader recommends articles and blog posts that people in a user's network write or share, and its first release serves recommendations from the 700,000 feeds on NetworkedBlogs. NetworkedBlogs allows users to syndicate their blogs to Facebook and embed social widgets, and currently has just under 1.7 million active monthly users. Both NetworkedBlogs and the Ninua Reader are free, while NetworkedWorld offers premium upgrades for $20 and the reader is planned to offer in-app premium purchases. Those premium options have allowed the startup to become cash flow positive in recent months. Founder and CEO Waleed Abdulla says the product leverages Facebook's social graph to surface relevant social connections and content.
