AudioMicro operates a stock music and sound effects marketplace offering licensed tracks and sound effects. Fotolia, a major online marketplace for royalty-free stock photos, injected $750,000 into AudioMicro. The investment involved previous backers DFJ Frontier and an angel investor. Fotolia co-founder and CEO Oleg Tscheltzoff joined AudioMicro’s board as part of the deal. AudioMicro and Fotolia plan to incubate several new projects targeted at specific content-licensing verticals, with four slated to launch by the end of the month. The companies will also collaborate through cross-promotion to their existing customers. Fotolia is backed by private equity firm TA Associates and also owns Flixtime.com and Photoxpress.com.
