  Hippo Harvest operates robotic, machine learning-driven greenhouses that produce USDA-certified organic leafy greens, combining Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) with a closed-loop direct-to-root nutrient and watering system. The company launched Butter Lettuce to retail buyers in early 2026 and has commercialized indoor-grown Spinach alongside its greenhouse assortment, which it pairs with organic field-grown greens for variety and year-round supply. Hippo Harvest reports its system uses 92% less water, 55% less fertilizer and 94% less land compared to traditional agriculture. Current growing capacity is about one acre, and the company plans to expand via a permitted 30-acre Hollister, CA facility and a next-generation robotic growing system to increase throughput and lower unit costs. Hippo Harvest serves retail customers across Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, including Sprouts, Haggen and Gus's Community Markets, and is pursuing West Coast expansion and additional national retail partnerships. Founded in 2019 and based in Pescadero, CA, the company positions itself as a hybrid supplier combining greenhouse and field-grown organic greens.
