Radix began planting trees in 2016 and operates as a reforestation company that buys deforested or pasture land and restores forested areas. Its business model is crowdfunded: it sells individual quotas starting at R$450 to small investors and companies. The startup currently manages about 200 hectares financed by roughly 950 cotistas. Historically it focused on African mahogany, a high‑value species whose timber is valued around R$4,600 per cubic meter, but is shifting from monoculture to mixed silviculture. The company plans to introduce both exotic and native species (including teca, castanha do Brasil, paricá, and others) across farms in Minas and, primarily, Roraima, where its largest unit is located. Radix says mixed silviculture will shorten and diversify harvest cycles (some species reach harvest in 5–10 years) and enable recurring annual payments to investors beginning around 2033.
