Overview
Started as a partnership between NYU and the city of New York to form the first NYC incubator, the Future Labs are a network of four spaces and programs evolved from a traditional incubator and accelerator models. The guiding principle of the Future Labs is to put the needs of each company first, providing for the best possible outcome for participant startups. By levering NYU resources to catalyze company success, and working with teams on an individual basis, we have a proven track record in helping companies reach their milestones and achieve scalable and sustainable growth. The Future Labs approach has yielded a $1B graduate portfolio with 13 acquisitions from only 68 total graduate companies.

Secure AI Labs (SAIL) operates a next-generation clinical data registry that enables patient advocacy groups to connect clinical researchers with larger, more representative clinical datasets. Its turnkey platform uses novel federated analytics to run researchers' statistical queries across 100+ hospitals without exposing hospital data or discrete patient elements, preserving multi-direction confidentiality and end-to-end encryption. The product is designed to reduce bias in clinical research by including rare subtypes, minorities, and other underrepresented groups and by enabling collaboration across disparate hospital data sources. Early partners include the Kidney Cancer Association, which uses SAIL's federated learning platform for its Kidney Cancer Data Federation to address privacy, volume, and cost barriers. SAIL positions patient advocacy groups to attract mission-aligned funding without building ad-hoc registries themselves. Financially, SAIL announced a $4.7 million Seed round and has raised $9 million to date.
