  Omnirobotic develops autonomous robotic hardware and an AI platform aimed at industrial and factory applications, initially focusing on automated paint and expanding to tasks like welding and machining. The platform is designed to let robots see, plan, and execute processes with limited human oversight to reduce skilled-labour shortages and environmental impact. Founded in 2016 by Francois Simard and Laurier Roy and based in Laval, Quebec, the company has gone to market but currently serves only a few customers in key segments. Demonstrating the technology for a customer automation project can take up to 18 months today; management aims to shorten that to six months. Omnirobotic says it will use new capital to continue building its autonomous capabilities and to grow its customer base. Omnirobotic builds autonomous industrial robots that can see their environment, plan, and execute tasks in real time without being taught motion sequences. Its first product, OmniPainter, is a painting robot that autonomously paints products on an overhead conveyor. The company says its robots use machine vision and AI to learn complicated production tasks and aim to replace dull, dirty, and dangerous work. Omnirobotic intends to commercialize OmniPainter and demonstrate the technology to lay groundwork for other industrial applications. The firm positions its solution as a response to low unemployment and manufacturing labour shortages that make it difficult to attract and retain qualified workers.
