Flexion Energy develops, builds, owns and operates large-scale grid-connected battery storage systems to support the UK electricity grid and the transition to renewable energy. The company positions itself as a bridge between development and financing of energy storage sites, sourcing and constructing storage assets at scale. Flexion is technology-agnostic and intends to take advantage of ongoing evolution in battery technology and broader energy storage innovation. The company has engaged ion Ventures to provide development, operational and asset management services as it progresses its storage pipeline to operations. Flexion’s immediate pipeline target is up to 300 MW of grid-connected battery storage to be constructed and made operational within the next 24 months, with an objective to deliver 1 GW of operational storage within five years.
