OnTheGo Platforms develops gesture-recognition software that uses a glasses’ front-facing camera to let users interact with smart glasses via natural hand gestures rather than touchpads. The company positions this approach as an alternative to the current smart-glasses UX exemplified by Google Glass. OnTheGo is pursuing a long-term licensing strategy targeting OEMs and says it is already working with several top smart-glasses manufacturers. Its current showcase application, Ghost Runner, is a runner training tool that runs on Vusix’s smart glasses platform. The company argues that swipe and air-gesture interactions will enable users to bring up apps and share photos or videos more naturally. Financially, OnTheGo announced a $700,000 seed raise to support its product and OEM partnerships.
