    Matteco develops patented platinum-free materials, catalytic coatings, and electrodes for renewable hydrogen production via alkaline electrolysis and AEM, aiming to reduce both capital and operating costs. The company is a spin-off from the University of Valencia and part of Zubi Labs. Matteco already sells to customers in Europe, North America and Asia. The collaboration is embodied in the EMMA project, which has secured public funding to deploy next‑generation electrolyzer technology. Matteco says the step strengthens its position as a world-class supplier and comes on the eve of opening a gigawatt factory in Valencia.
