CIC operates and manages innovation campuses offering offices, biotech laboratories, robotics development centers, and specialized industry hubs to cluster startups, corporate teams, and investors. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., CIC has supported nearly 5,000 startups and its affiliated organizations include LabCentral, MassRobotics, and Venture Cafe. The company reports over one million square feet under lease and cites publicly announced transactions from tenant companies totaling about $10 billion in venture capital and M&A value. CIC plans to expand its global footprint to 50 innovation cities over the next ten years and is opening new campuses in multiple U.S. cities and internationally. Recent and near-term expansions include large new facilities in St. Louis, Kendall Square (Boston/Cambridge), Philadelphia, Providence, Rotterdam, and a planned Warsaw campus. CIC intends to use new capital to accelerate growth, recruit executive leadership, and develop additional specialized hubs in key sectors such as biotech, energy, digital, and new materials.
